At Pinnacle Charter Middle School, students learn and gain experience through real-world application, STEM and Core Curriculum while obtaining skills needed for high school and post-secondary opportunities. We are an AVID school and implement the college and career ready program school-wide. Pinnacle Middle School students participate in technology, robotics, career planning, numerous sports, clubs and visual and performing arts to outline a well-rounded education and a pathway to a balanced successful future. Our students can change the world because the focused foundation starts here!

Hello Pinnacle Charter Middle School Families:
This was a busy week packed with a Financial Literacy Rock Concert, our Exploring Pinnacle Event Night, and block schedules to allow for strategic CMAS practice test strategies!
One expectation that we are looking for is increased reading opportunities which include our students reading a book at home. Students need to practice reading in order to be good readers and therefore, successful students. The science of reading indicates that 95% of students are capable of success in reading without intervention (some students need reading interventions to be fully equipped); but the United States is only at a 30% success rate in reading including comprehension of what they are reading. At PCMS, our children are reading at a 35% achievement success rate which is above the US rate but we believe that we can reach 95%! Therefore, we are increasing reading time in lessons in every class but we also ask that we increase reading at home! As we start our Spring Break from March 22nd through the 31st, will you commit to reading as a family for at minimum 15 minutes at 3-4 days over Spring Break? I'll commit to reading over break too! Thank you for believing that your child can elevate their reading! Let's do this together! You can even read together if you wish.
With CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) coming up, we need to make sure your children are ready to show their grade level readiness which includes Reading. These tests in English Language Arts, Math and Science help us plan for their schedules and also make certain your children have the best academically rigorous and appropriate level of classes moving forward. The CMAS test also ranks our school to determine performance status. This is incredibly important as we strive for the best possible rating for your children. We know you chose Pinnacle Charter School as your child's school and the best education is what they deserve to have! These tests are in April (8-10, 15 -17). Let's prepare now! Here are parent resources including practice tests.
We are living up to our theme this year thus far: "A Rising Tide Raises All Boats" which means that when expectations are high, everyone must raise aspirations of themselves and make sure those around them are lifted up. We have all the resources and drive to speed ahead! The tide is rising high for PCMS!
Here are our announcements for the week:
1. Event Calendar: Keep up to date with our school event calendar located on our school website directly linked here.
2. Funding the Future Assembly on Monday was AMAZING! The band Gooding was such a hit with our students and after playing their rock music, shared their personal story of their struggle to overcome poor money management as they followed their dream to become recording artists. Your student learned ways to take control of their money so they will have control over their life and realize their own dreams. Learn more about the band and the lessons here. Please take some time as a family to go over what they learned and how they plan to apply this knowledge in their own lives. Your support will make a difference! Please access the post-performance worksheet HERE to review as a family! Here is a short reel of their hour and a half performance and presentation on TikTok and Instagram.
3. Check Infinite Campus: Grades are a fantastic indicator of not only mastery of content but of degrees of responsibility. It is a great success for middle school students to learn that missing assignments are detrimental to receiving good grades. Parents, we need your help in making sure your child has all assignments turned in. Please sign into IC to check their grades each week! If students have 2 or more failing grades, we are inviting those students to Timby Support every Wednesday afternoon from 3:30-4:30pm. Each Friday, you are sent a grade update via Infinite Campus that includes failing grades or missing work. If you get this notification, come on back to this sign up and make your reservation for our next Timby Support so we can help your child beyond the school day to catch up.
4. Timby's Tutor Support: We have our next session on Wednesday, April 2nd. We have 3 teachers offering tutoring support after school from 3:30-4:30pm. Please sign up each week that you would like your child to attend by filling out THIS FORM. We also accept drop ins but students must make sure it is approved by a parent to stay after school. This group has had increased grades and performance! It is AWESOME to see the improvement happening! A huge thank you to Ms. Gienger, Mr. Lawrence, Ms. Pellochoud, Ms. Nikki, and Mrs. Smith for being our teachers who support this program and our students!
5. Practice CMAS Schedule: This week and the week after Spring Break on April 2nd and 3rd, we will have two block days to allow for CMAS practice tests, test strategies, and support for students to do their best on test days. As a reminder CMAS is April 8-10 and April 15-17th.
6. Exploring Pinnacle Open House Event! Tuesday, March 18th! We are excited to host the Exploring Pinnacle Event, an open house showcasing Pinnacle Charter School's programs, activities, and opportunities. This event welcomes both prospective and current families, as well as students transitioning between grade levels, offering a deeper look into our school community. Check out our highlight reel on TikTok and Instagram. Please share this email with any interested family! The best compliment we can ever receive, is the referral of your friends and community members! Enrollment is open! Click here to apply!
7. Fees: Please check your child's fees on Infinite Campus. Many students have added replacement ID and replacement planner fees to their accounts which are starting to add up. We will need these settled prior to the end of the year awards and continuation ceremonies. We will only accept $5 cash for replacement planners from now until the end of the year so more fees will not incur. If you need assistance, please call our school. We are here to help.

We are an AVID School-wide Middle School: We would like to emphasize that this year, we are excited to be an exemplar AVID Middle School. AVID means Advancement via Individual Determination. AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. Regardless of their life circumstances, AVID students overcome obstacles and achieve success. They graduate and attend college at higher rates, but more importantly, they can think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges that await them. This means we teach all students at Pinnacle Middle School how to be organized, successful, and equipped with the best possible tools to be college and career ready even before they enter high school.
At Pinnacle Charter Middle School, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating environment where every student can grow, learn, and thrive. Together, we will continue to build a community that celebrates diversity, academic excellence, and personal growth.
