The Pinnacle Health Office is staffed by a team of three Health Aides who work under the guidance of the School Nurse Consultant. Health Aides provide the day to day care of students. Our goal is to provide students with the health supports needed to keep students safe, healthy, and in the classroom whenever possible, so students are able achieve their highest academic potential.
The Health Office team provides support to students and families by:
- Treating minor injuries-bumps, bruises, scrapes
- Providing medications that have been ordered by a medical provider
- Monitoring immunization compliance
- Vision and hearing screenings. Students in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd,3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th grades are screened per state guidelines. However, screenings can be performed at any time for any student if a parent or teacher expresses concern.
- Support of students with chronic health needs
- Promotion of healthy lifestyle habits
- Monitoring and responding to communicable disease symptoms and outbreaks
- Concussion recovery support
- Community resource referrals
Staying home when ill helps students rest and recover, and it prevents the spread of illness. Students who are not well enough to participate in academic activities will be sent home to rest and recuperate. These resources are used to determine if a student should be sent home or should stay home from school:
How Sick is Too Sick? (English)
¿Qué tan enfermo es demasiado enfermo?
