Pinnacle Teachers Participate in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Professional Development

When teachers attend professional development (PD) courses, all within the community benefit. This is especially true with the current Pinnacle Charter School PD, Growing our Students by Growing our Staff. Beginning in January, K-12 staff are actively working with an accredited university and third-party vendor to obtain a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse endorsement from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE).

During each 6- to 8-week course, teachers work collaboratively in an online environment via forum discussions with other course participants from different schools, projects and reflective coursework applicable to their day-to-day classroom experiences. The endorsement will equip teachers with improved scaffolding to better teach English Language Learner Students, comprehend cultural aspects of diverse families and help cultivate better synergies between home and school. Staff earn three graduate credits earned per class and can submit transcripts to the school for salary increases.

Upon staff completion of the six courses, Pinnacle Charter School will become the first Title 1 School with more than 80 percent of its teaching staff endorsed with this highly valuable distinction. The PD is a Center for Leadership Development (CLD) endorsement free of charge.
